• Q1: How long does it take to install a new Communal TV system ready for the switchover? 

  A: Physically, it will take approximately two days’ work, once you have agreed the survey and contract. This will also depend on the size of your block.

• Q2: How much will a communal system cost? 

  A: That really depends on the type of block you manage and the type of system you need. But it's easy to use our estimate calculator to get a good indication. Please note that this is an estimate only.

• Q3: Are any subsidies available for installation? 

  A: Yes. We are currently offering substantial subsidies on many installations. Please call us today for more information.

• Q4: How much work will I, the managing agent, have to put into this? 

  A: We'll do most of the work for you, including liaising with your residents. All you have to do is speak to us to arrange a date for the survey, and then approve that survey once you're happy with it. We'll do the rest.

• Q5: Can my tenants get TV from another company if Sky installs the communal solution? 

  A: Yes, but only if you take an IRS solution. For example, they can choose Top up TV or Freeview. But if they want cable TV they will need to consult the cable providers. Box connection charges apply.

• Q6: Why is it so important for my Integrated Reception System (IRS) to be dual feed? 

  A: A dual feed IRS (as opposed to a single feed) gives access to the full functionality of Sky+HD. It also means that your flats will be "future-proofed" for new technology. With the two feeds, one could be diverted into a second room, such as a bedroom, to provide a digital feed into that room.

• Q7: Does the dual feed enable homebuyers to get all Sky's latest innovations? 

  A: Yes. They'll be able to choose Sky+ HD, and have access to all the other digital TV options of people living in houses.

• Q8: What does the IRS system look like? 

  A: It typically consists of a satellite dish with about a 78cm diameter and an aerial on the roof, plus a lockable cabinet for switches and distribution equipment. A faceplate or aerial socket will be installed so that residents can plug in their TV or Sky box.
