Alaska Buildings – Bermondsey SE1

Alaska Buildings is a unique, listed Art Deco building and former fur factory in the heart of South East London. Its converted properties retain much of the original features in warehouse style spaces and the gated development includes communal Water Gardens.

It is made up of the three old warehouses and five additional buildings, which make up 122 high-end residential apartments.  As a sought after development close to London Bridge and Bermondsey stations, it attracts predominantly young, city professionals.

Managed Living Partnerships (MLP), which has managed the building for the last six years, was the first residential managing agent to achieve the ARMA Q accreditation and as such prides itself on upholding high professional standards.  The development has benefitted from a communal TV system for many years, the single dish being particularly important for a listed building.

With the introduction of Sky Q, MLP were keen to get the enhancement as soon as possible.  It also gave them the opportunity to check the communal TV system equipment was in good condition, which was a handy addition as part of the process.

MLP worked with Community Vision, the local approved Sky installer, to get the enhancement.

Mark Eddleston, Senior Property Manager explains:

“There was no hesitation from us, it goes without saying that it gives added value. More than anything, it was a nice touch for us to be able to go to our clients and say you can have access to Sky Q and it costs you nothing.

“There were also no added complications with Alaska Building being listed, as any equipment is housed internally and the enhancement across the development happened all very quickly.  It was perfectly seamless, I can’t hammer that home enough.”
