It’s now been two weeks since the world was introduced to Sky Q and it’s been a really exciting time for us here at Sky HQ. We had a fantastic launch, with large-scale TV and advertising campaigns and there’s been a real buzz in the industry and amongst our customers.
Now, our job is to keep up with customer demand and get communal systems up and ready in good time. We’ve been enhancing blocks for some months now to get them Sky Q ready, but we are now installing our first systems. Our regional installation partners across the UK are also very busy working with Managing Agents to get more blocks enhanced for Sky Q, so that customers can get access immediately.
We’ve found a real mix of demand - from customers coming to us directly wanting to know if their block of flats already has the enhancement because they want to be able to have Sky Q - to proactive Managing Agents who want to make sure that their blocks are ready, for when they get asked by residents.
We’ve had feedback from Managing Agents that they thought it would be a more complicated upgrade and were pleasantly surprised at how simple it is – just a switch fitted at the head-end of the communal system.
In May, we’ll be at the Institute of Residential Property Managers (IRPM) Annual Seminar and we’ll also be at the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Housing 2016 Conference in June, where we’ll be talking about Sky Q and answering any questions that property managers may have about their communal system and Sky Q. We’ll also be happy to give anyone a demo who wants to have a play and see what amazing features Sky Q comes with!
Last but not least, we can’t go into March without reminding you (as if you need reminding!) of the impending Season 6 of Game of Thrones, which is just around the corner – it kicks off in April and we can’t wait! With the Easter holidays only a few weeks away, we’ve also got over 1,000 movies ready to watch on Sky Movies On Demand, including Sky Movies Disney and some all-time family classics, such as Inside Out, Harry Potter and Jurassic Park.
As for Premier League viewing, it’s all getting very interesting at the moment and we have a feeling that the Newcastle vs Sunderland and the Manchester derby both on 20 March could make for quite a day of football.
