Following a hugely successful media launch of Sky Q - the next generation of TV - in November last year, we have now revealed when it will go on sale to the public and what customers can expect to pay for it.

Customers will be able to buy Sky Q from 9 February, with home installations beginning at the end of the month.  We are launching Sky Q with the lowest ever set-up cost for a brand new premium product launch – from £99. 

This means that for existing Sky+ customers, they are looking at around £12 extra compared with their current Sky+ package and for new customers joining Sky, the ongoing monthly cost will start from just £42.

Sky Q customers will also receive servicing and mechanical fault repairs at no extra cost and they will have access to a dedicated premium service centre based in the UK.

In order to be Sky Q ready, a block of flats with a Sky communal TV system will need a simple system enhancement to the communal TV system.  Sky will arrange a free survey and providing there are no additional costs involved then this will be free, subject to survey. 

If an MDU customer purchases Sky Q in a block that has not already had the enhancement, Sky will then reactively enhance the block.  If a resident currently has a mini-dish, Sky can replace a part on the dish, so that the resident is able to have Sky Q.

Sky Q is 2016’s most hotly anticipated launch in TV tech and the next few months are going to be exciting times for us as Sky Q enters UK flats and houses and changes the way many of us watch TV.  We’re excited to see how this year unfolds with more features to be added throughout the next 12 months.
